T-shirts in the realm of track and field are more than just clothing; they represent pride, identity, and community. This truth is palpable during the Apex Lions' Relays, where student-athletes from various schools proudly wear custom-designed shirts. We recently caught up with Roy Cooper, a long-term client who has closely collaborated with Body Billboards for these significant events. Read on as we explore his valuable insights and experience.

First Impressions Matter

Q: What initially drew you to our print shop for your t-shirt needs, and how has your experience evolved over the years?

A: Our journey with Body Billboards started in 1996, when I reached out to Dave Lorenz for shirts for our Apex Lions' Relays track meet. Body Billboards had an existing contract with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, which made the decision easy.

Over the years, our experience has continually improved. The sales representatives and graphic artists I’ve worked with have always met deadlines and exceeded expectations. What truly makes a difference is how the graphic design team collaborates with us. They take our initial design ideas and elevate them into striking final products. This collaboration is crucial for creating shirts that not only look good but also resonate with the athletes and their experiences.

A Symbol of Identity

Q: Can you share a memorable moment or standout project from our collaborations that really highlights the impact of the artwork on the track team's spirit or identity?

A: While the meet's identity takes center stage, the impact is significant for our team. The shirts from Body Billboards have become symbols of pride, worn by athletes from different schools during competitions statewide.

For example, last year, I saw our athletes wearing these shirts not only during the Apex Lions' Relays but also at regional cross-country meets. The shirts serve as badges of honor, embodying their achievements. The design makes a real difference; it must resonate with the athletes. Body Billboards excels in this. Their talented team crafts designs that capture the spirit of the meet, forging a strong connection between the participants and their shirts.

The Takeaway

Q: How do you feel our partnership has contributed to the success of the high school's track department, and what do you envision for future projects?

A: The designs for the last few years have been extremely popular with the athletes attending the meets, and I attribute that to the design work created and polished by Dameon and Steven. They have excelled in taking our conceptual idea to an outstanding final design, both in terms of the design itself and in the colors that were used. We have sold out our entire inventory at the last three meets, and I attribute that to the look of the shirt. We will continue to partner with Body Billboards as long as the meet continues in the future.
